Understanding the NDIS.
We are partners in supporting
a better life for Australian with disabilities, their families and support network.
What is NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme [NDIS] is the new way of providing disability support in Australia. Legislated by the Federal Government in 2013, the Scheme funds costs associated with disability, and it’s administered by the National Disability Insurance Agency [NDIS].
It provides all Australians under the age of 65, who have a permanent and significant disability with reasonable and necessary supports they needs to enjoy an ordinary life. The NDIS helps people with disability achieve their goals. This may include greater independence, community involvement employment and improved wellbeing.
The NDIS also provides people with disability, their family and carers with information and referrals to existing support services in the community.
